Fall Favorites 2022

Fall Favorites 2022

What is bringing you joy these day? These tricolor mums make me so happy!

Hello Friends:

As I am sitting down to write to you this month, I am not sure if I want to repeat my fall favorites for a fourth year in a row. And, it just feels right to do so. If you are curious about my past fall favorites, both in the before times and during the pandemic, here are links to 2019, 2020 and 2021.

My first fall favorite is something new that I announced in last month's post. It's Monday morning Open Office Hours! For the last few weeks I have met with some of you via Zoom to listen, answer questions and show you bit by bit how I organize my papers. Every week is a little different. The one thing that remains the same is how honored I feel to help you with your personal organization. If you would like to join this positive, open and inclusive gathering for just a few minutes every Monday morning, please send me an email. And if you would like private one on one organizational consulting, I have a few openings in my calendar for reoccuring or one-off sessions.

Moving on, my next fall favorite is a really simple thing, that has brought me great joy the last few days. Here's the back story:  I have two beautiful urns on my porch that belonged to my grandparents. I try to keep something in the pots year round. However, this past spring and summer were so full that I never got around to putting any flowers in them. Yes, I had two pots of dirt on either side of my front door all summer long!

The other day I popped into our local garden center on a whim. There waiting for me was the most beautiful tricolor chrysanthemum. I have just noticed these multicolored mums this fall and love them. The flowers aren't really multicolored, just three plants grown together in the same pot. I only bought one and the next day my husband bought me a less expensive single color mum for the other porch pot. It brings me such joy to see flowers on my front porch again.

Finally, I am really enjoying letting go this fall. The last two and a half years, I have been holding on tight to a lot of physical clutter and mental baggage. Through personal experience and working with clients for over 15 years, I know the two are always intertwined. Sometimes we start with letting go of physical things. Other times we let go of the emotional baggage first. Either way, it is beautiful and freeing to let things go. In September, I let go of some furniture we no longer needed, two bins of outgrown kids' clothes and five boxes went to Purple Heart. They are picking up again through DonateStuff.com! I am still working on letting go of tendencies that hold me back, which will probably be a life long pursuit.

Please do share your fall favorites! I always love hearing from you!

All my best,

Carolyn
